Italy is a wonderful patchwork quilt of a country with incredible regionality and local traditions. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the rich profusion of indigenous grape varieties that grace the slopes and plains of many of Italy's wine-producing regions. While wine production dates back centuries, it wasn't until relatively recently that a wave of producers set new benchmarks for fine Italian Wines. Whether you like a more modernist or traditionalist approach, international or indigenous varieties, the Italian wine scene has never been more exciting.
