For fine wine merchants, the purchase of wine En Primeur from Bordeaux is made through a historical process that still exists today, involving courtiers and négociants. At Armit Wines, we are in the privileged position of being the exclusive importer of fine wines to the UK such as Tenuta San Guido (Sassicaia), Bruno Giacosa, La Rioja Alta S.A., Tua Rita, Fattoria Le Pupille, Agricola Punica, Querciabella, Giacomo Fenocchio, Elena Walch, Liber Pater and Rockford. We also have very close relationships and regular allocations of fine wines from Château Lafleur, Domaine Leflaive, Esprit Leflaive, Domaine Montille, and Domaine Raveneau.
Wine bought En Primeur with Armit Wines can only be purchased by the unmixed case. En Primeur wines tend to be bottled and released up to two years after the initial En Primeur sale, but this varies from winemaking country to region, Château or Domaine.
Buying wine En Primeur allows you to purchase wines at their initial release prices. Historically, wines re-released after bottling have been more expensive (however there is no guarantee of this as some of the most recent vintages, especially from Bordeaux, will testify).
Moreover, they allow you to secure an allocation of small-production wines that may become unavailable on the market after the En Primeur sale. This is especially pertinent if you are aiming to create a vertical collection of wines from the same estate.
It allows you to own a case of wine from the very beginning of its existence – wine provenance is very important.
You are able to purchase wine from a vintage which has special meaning to a child, grandchild, godchild, partner, other relative or friend.
Buying wine En Primeur lets you secure cases of fine wine in half bottles or large format wines in magnum, double magnum, jeroboam or imperial.
Armit Wines have been exclusively importing a number of leading fine wines from around the world since 1988, including large volumes of Cru Classé Bordeaux, Super Tuscans, Grands and Premiers Crus from Burgundy and icons from Spain, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, North and South America. We pride ourselves on offering our customers impartial and honest advice about each wine we choose to release in the UK. We collate independent wine critics’ scores and tasting notes alongside those of our own, to provide the widest possible pool of information to enable our customers to make informed purchase decisions.

Wine Provenance
We choose to price fine wine for sale in the UK at prices which we think are fair at any given time, taking into consideration market trends, exchange rates, supplier reputation and especially, what offers good value to our customers. There will always be other merchants able to offer the wines we sell at cheaper prices. However, peace of mind and reliability of service and supply can be worth more than a discounted price.
We are fortunate at Armit Wines to be the exclusive importer to the UK for a variety of fine wines and this ensures that we are able to offer these wines for sale with impeccable wine provenance and knowledge that the wines have been shipped and stored under state-of-the-art temperature and movement controlled conditions.
