This is 100% Merlot and the coolness of the vintage definitely suited it. The nose takes a while to come alive, but spices, chocolate and black pepper sit on top of cherry and blackberry fruit; tantalising and inviting. There is a lovely orange zest acidity with perfectly ripe blue fruit, leather and wood shavings. Layer upon layer of flavour builds up in the mouth. The tannins are very present but perfectly balanced with the stony minerality, zippy, vivacious acidity and gorgeous fruit. The texture is silky and alluring. Really, this is fantastic. Powerful, serious and dense but with a real lightness of touch. The finish is linear and direct with a reminder of the sweet fruit which just goes on and on. Magnificent. Drink 2015-25
