CHARDONNAY, 13.50%, Drinking 2022-2026, Vegan Friendly"The 2020 Chardonnay Solomon Hills Estate comes from the colder of Bien Nacido's two estates. It's located eight miles west of Bien Nacido and is the westernmost vineyard in the Santa Maria appellation. Vines are planted in beach sand, and there are no mountains to block sea breezes, so it is an especially cold, windy, foggy site. Matured in 40% new French oak, it opens with some toasty nuances and flinty streaks, with a core of white peach, lemon-lime, saline and acacia. The palate is ultra tangy and energetic with bursts of concentrated, mouthwatering citrus and a very long, mineral-driven finish."

The sister winery to Bien Nacido Estate, Solomon Hills was born as the Millers ventured slightly west from the Bien Nacido site. They stumbled on this special parcel of land that was also used in the late 1850s by the bandit Salomon Pico, the inspiration behind Zorro. The vineyard was planted in the late 1990's and christened Solomon Hills Estate. It is the westernmost vineyard in the Santa Maria Valley, just eleven miles from the ocean. The combination of ocean-derived sandy loam soils and marine breezes contribute to creating wines marked by a zingy freshness, chiselled fruit and utter elegance.
