Tasting Notes

A perfume of red berries and currants meshes with deeper floral undertones. Lovely violets and forest floor continue on the nose with rich cassis and amazing lithe tannins. This white horse possesses a regal sense of silken weight. Weighty and weightless, with prodigious length and purity of fruit. Just lingers on and on unravelling into filigree flavours. Understandably it is a bit reluctant now but it is beautiful. A real thrill. So complex. Such clarity, composure and refinement. Score: 18.5

ProducerChâteau Cheval Blanc

Château Cheval Blanc is a top wine producer in Saint-Émilion with its wine only one of four to receive the highest rank of Premier Grand Cru Classé status in the Classification of Saint-Émilion wine as of 2012. The vineyard is considered to have three qualities: one third Pomerol as it is located on the boundary, one third Graves as the soil is gravelly, and the remaining third typical Saint-Émilion. It is spread over 41 hectares, with 37 hectares planted with an unusual composition of grape varieties of 57% Cabernet Franc, 40% Merlot, and small parcels of Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon. See More
