(51% merlot and 49% cabernet franc): Bright ruby-red. Initially reduced black cherry, violet, cocoa and licorice aromas became more perfumed with aeration. Sweet and dense but medicinal and a bit clenched today, with dominant flavors of spicy black cherry and dark chocolate. The wine's dominant cabernet franc personality makes this hard to judge presently. Finishes with supple tannins and very good length. This will need time to smooth out, but I think it will be another considerable success for Guinaudeau. Score: 87-89 Points Ian D'Agata, vinous.com

Under the Guinaudeau Family Vignerons umbrella is the G’Acte series from Château Grand Village. The massale selection nursery - planted by Baptiste and Julie in 2009 with Cabernet Franc and Merlot cuttings from Château Lafleur - is maturing impressively. The family records its development each year - the viticultural equivalent of pencil height marks on a door frame - by producing modern, poised wines called G’Acte 1, G’Acte 2 and so. As time goes on, these statements should record Fronsac’s return to prominence in Bordeaux.
