Scores

Dark raspberries, freshly cut flowers, violets, licorice mint and sweet spices literally jump from the glass in the 2010 Giusto di Notri. An articulate, beautifully delineated wine, the 2010 impresses for its nuance and balance. Even with all the richness, the flavors remain bright, focused and lively. This is a great showing from Tua Rita. Giusto di Notri is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Score: 94 Points Antonio Galloni

Tasting Notes

A blend of 60% cabernet sauvignon, 30% merlot and 10% cabernet franc it may be, but this is nothing like Bordeaux! Cool blue berry fruits, spice and rich lilac perfume lift out of the glass followed by hints of spice. In the mouth the fruit is ripe and generous, with layers of herb, eucalyptus and spice but the lacy mineral structure, fine acidity and harmonious tannins bring everything together. This is incredibly elegant and composed. The finish is energetic and zippy and redolent of rose petals. Absolutely delicious and will be delightful in 5-10 years.

ProducerTua Rita

Founded in 1984, Tua Rita was instrumental in establishing the 'cult' status of the earliest Super Tuscans. Nestled in the metalliferous hills of the Maremma in coastal Tuscany, Tua Rita have carved out a reputation for being some of the best producers of Cabernet and Merlot in Italy. Today, second generation winemaker Stefano Frascolla continues to push the boundaries of Italian wine, experimenting with new varieties and techniques, and recent releases of these wines are the best they have ever been.
