Gimonnet Cuis 1er Cru NV, Champagne Gimonnet, 3x150cl bottles
A fabulous, Blanc de Blancs grower Champagne, Gimonnet never fails to impress me for is vivacity, freshness and mineral core. This is an elegant fizz and one which your guests will love and at just over £60 per magnum, it is excellent value too. Serve with mini crab choux buns as a perfect start to your soirée.
Riesling Strasse Gaisberg Reserve Erste Lage 2014, Weingut Eichinger, 3x150cl bottles
As impressive in flavour, as it is visually, this wine comes in an extraordinary double sized flute shaped bottle which will certainly get your guests talking. The wine within does not disappoint either with fresh peach and lemon flavours and a perfectly crisp palate with moreish acidity. This would be at home with simple griddled fish or try your hand at the Austrian dish Erdäpfel Salat as a perfect partner.

A perfect blend of organically farmed Syrah, Carignan, Grenache and Barbera, this is Californian wine at its best without being excessively ripe or alcoholic. The winemaker describes it as ‘light on its feet, great with food, fun and easy to drink, and affordable’ and I couldn’t agree more. It is perfectly easy drinking and complex and the same time. Just add a pulled pork burger to enjoy by its side.
