Last week saw Armit Wine’s inaugural Scottish tasting in Edinburgh and we are happy to report it was a great success. The turnout was encouraging, with more news customers than existing customers attending. Indeed, people travelled from all over Scotland and even as far afield as Newcastle to attend.
In a break from the norm we had no producers behind the tables extolling the virtues of each wine. Instead, we allowed customers to pour themselves, letting the wine do the talking. Italy is always a highlight at our tastings (be sure not to miss our Italian tasting on the 14th of March!) with special mention going to Gaja, Giacosa and Dal Forno. However, other wines which were well received were Querciabella (Chianti), La Rioja Alta (Rioja), Rallo (Siciliy) and Urla (Turkey). Customers really responded well to certain newer grape varieties including Vermentino, Furmint, Grillo and Albarino which offered something new to talk about and enjoy.
All in all the tasting was a great success and we look forward to sharing our great wines across Scotland in the months and years to come.
