"A ladies lunch at Hunan, what a lovely idea!
Inspired by the 11 women of wine coalition in Austria, to which Birgit belongs, it was 10 of us, on trade ladies, around the table.
The food was tasty, delicious and the restaurant has been very welcoming. The relaxed format chosen was ideal, plates coming out of the kitchen and going around the table. Lots of finger food too. Some spicy bits, some hints of sweetness here and there made for an interesting array of flavours, always a challenge in terms of wine matching.
Birgit’s wine is pure, precise and elegant, a bit like her. They can be a gentle 
accompaniment for subtle flavours and will find their way to stand up to fiery spices.
The 2012 Gruner Veltliner Strasse Hasel is a lovely fresh, pure, easy drinking and flavourful example of Gruner Veltliner showing herbal notes and white flowers on the nose. Light body, refreshing style with a gentle acidity. Very fairly priced. A good summer dea!
The 2012 Grüner Veltliner Lamm Erste Lage was however my wine of the day - delicious with fish, was able to accompany the sticky duck surprisingly well. The creamy texture on the palate makes it a great food wine, and I went back to it after dessert too. A wine of great structure, balance and elegance. Thanks again to Armit Wines for making it happen!"
