After asking a few of our in-house experts their plans for the bank holiday weekend we noticed a recurring theme of memorable experiences matched with delicious wines. In-line with this discovery we decided to pull together a blog post of recommendations, tying special moments to fantastic wines which you’ll find amongst the Armit Wines portfolio. We hope that it will provide inspiration and demonstrate small ways to add a dash of luxury to your weekend. Enjoy!
Jessica - With a cheese board post dinner party
Quinta Da Falorca 2008, £71.94 per case of 6 bottles
An outstandingly affordable and deliciously juicy match for a wedge of fine cheese to finish off that impromptu bank holiday dinner party! This Falorca is made from Portugal’s Touriga Nacional grape used in Port making this wine a lovely nod to this classic cheese pairing if you’re more of a wine lover!
Rhian - Spending a day on Brighton Beach
Magnum of Gimonnet Cuis NV, £209.97 per 3 Magnums
“As the sun disappeared slowly behind the pier and the skies turned from orange to purple, the cork went pop and the beautiful bubbles from the Magnum of Gimonnet Cuis NV spilled into picnic wine glasses – “Cheers! To the Bank Holiday weekend” we cried – as we sat back on laid out scarves and anoraks on Brighton beach!”
Nick - With a BBQ
2012 Tintonegro Limestone Block Malbec, £90.00 per case of 6 bottles
Seems obvious, but some combinations are just meant to be. This Malbec will work with the rarest or most charred of steaks – a crowd pleaser with real class.
Linda - Cooking dinner with friends
Chablis 2011, Jean-Paul & Benoit Droin, £172.80 per case of 12 bottles
I would start off with some Gimonnet Cuis as a welcome while we cook, move on to a bottle of Droin Chablis for the grilled prawns and a bottle of Mongrana in Magnum to match a pasta with chicken, pancetta and lots of cheese.
Oenophile Extra Brut 2008, £239.94 per case of 6 bottles
It’s all about Gimmonet this bank holiday. My choice being the Oenophile Extra Brut 2008, this low dosage is the perfect breakfast tipple. A glass or two will leave you cleansed and refreshed to enjoy your extra day off!
Vouvray Pétillant 2009, £138.00 per case of 6 bottles
It doesn’t have to be about Champagne – what about a glass of Huet Petillant to celebrate it being Friday!? Delicious.
Sophia - Picnic in the park
Pietradolce Etna Rosso, £107.94 per case of 6 bottles
This could be the last weekend this Summer for picnics, so I'm going to make the most of it! I've got bread, ham, cheese, salad and lots of mini cocktail sausages. I’ll be washing it all down with a delicious bottle of Pietradolce Etna Rosso, fresh and fruity with a hint of spice, just perfect for outdoor feasting!
Viña Alberdi Reserva 2007, £203.88 per case of 12 bottles
I love La Rioja Alta wines so I have chosen Alberdi and my moment would be cooking with friends as I absolutely love cooking for my friends and for some reason, I am a much better cook with a drink in my hand! I chose a wine that is not too punchy in alcohol so they are not missing the main event! Alberdi is an easy drinking, elegant, fresh and balanced wine with bags of fruit– a great introduction to traditional Rioja at an amazing value!
